Truck

The truck is the cap-like fitting at the top of the pole that supports the pulley system. On an external halyard pole, the truck usually contains one or more pulleys. A single pulley is generally used for one flag, while a double pulley may be used when flying two flags or using a more involved rope arrangement.

Some trucks are stationary, while others rotate. A rotating truck can help the flag move with the wind and reduce wrapping around the pole. It is a useful feature, though it will not completely prevent tangles in every weather condition.
