Garden Flag Stand Hardware You Can Trust

We stock black metal and wrought iron garden flag stands built for consistent outdoor use in Iowa weather and beyond. Every pole kit includes everything you need to display your garden flags without guessing what fits. If it's in your cart, it's in our warehouse.

Most garden flag stands ship same day with Fast FREE Shipping, no minimum order. You'll get a tracking number within hours, not days. We've sold flag pole hardware since 1993, so we know what holds up and what doesn't.

Metal Garden Flag Poles That Stay Put

Our metal flag poles are designed to anchor into the ground and stay there. The wrought iron construction resists rust and bending better than lightweight aluminum or plastic alternatives. Each garden pole includes a ground stake or base that keeps your flag upright through rain and wind.

Standard garden flag stands fit 12.5" x 18" flags, the most common size for seasonal and decorative designs. If you need a double garden flag stand to display two flags on one pole, we stock those too. Every kit ships complete with all mounting hardware.

How to Keep Your Garden Flag From Blowing Off

Use a rubber stopper or clip at the top of your garden flag stand to secure the flag sleeve. Most of our pole kits include these stoppers, but if yours doesn't, a standard rubber grommet from any hardware store works. Push the stopper into the top of the pole after sliding your flag on.

For extra hold in high-wind areas, look for adjustable garden flag stands with spring-loaded clips. These grip the flag fabric directly instead of relying on the sleeve alone. We stock both standard and clip-style metal garden flag poles.

Where to Place Your Garden Flag Stand

Mount your garden flag stand to the left of your front door or mailbox when facing the house. This follows the same protocol as the American flag: the position of pride is always on the observer's left. Your garden pole should stand upright without leaning, so choose a spot with firm soil.

You can fly a garden flag at night without a light. The illumination rule applies only to the American flag. Seasonal and decorative garden flags don't require nighttime lighting, though you're welcome to spotlight them if you want the visibility.

      Collapsible Models and Pole Kits

We carry collapsible models compatible with container gardens and planters. These garden flag stands break down into sections for winter storage or transport. The black metal construction still provides the same stability as one-piece poles, but you can store them flat in a garage or shed.

Every pole kit includes the stake, pole, and any clips or stoppers needed for display. You won't need to buy separate parts or guess at compatibility. Our staff has tested each garden flag stand with actual flags to confirm fit and function before we stock it.

What to Call a Flag Stand

A flag stand is also called a flag pole, garden pole, or flag holder depending on the style. Outdoor residential poles for garden flags are usually called garden flag stands to distinguish them from larger flagpoles for American flags. The word stand refers to the base or stake that holds the pole upright.

We use the term garden flag stand for any metal flag pole designed to display 12.5" x 18" decorative flags. Larger poles for 3' x 5' flags are listed under residential flagpoles. If you're not sure which you need, call our Des Moines store and we'll walk you through it.
